For anyone who loves the idea of Trump University (The Chronicle, September 17, 2004), but worries that The Donald’s take on higher ed may be, uh, too academically rigorous — boy, have we got a school for you.
Victory Dawson, former Trump U. student who says he is a self-made millionaire, has founded the humbly-named The University of Victory, an online institution that promises to “give you all the education, motivation, inspiration and support you need to succeed in your own unique TRUE entrepreneurial niche.”
You’ve got to hand it to Mr. Dawson: The entrepreneur has a flair for publicity that would make his former teacher proud. To pick his staff, Mr. Dawson is holding a competition based on “The Apprentice,” the TV series that brought Mr. Trump a new level of stardom. The contest, according to the new university’s first press release, “will be a two day internet based challenge and involve either YouTube or MySpace.” —Brock Read
