It’s not exactly a wholesale makeover, but Facebook has updated its look, as programmers for the social network have pointed out on the company’s blog.
The Web site has streamlined its personal-profile pages and created an “inbox” feature for personal messages. But Facebook’s most noticeable new feature may be the introduction of “network pages,” which will provide college users with a quick sampling of newly-formed groups, upcoming events, and surveys (listing, for example, the most popular movies) on their campus networks.
Unlike some of the tweaks Facebook programmers made last year — the controversial “news feed” comes to mind — the new features seem to be fairly popular. They’ve certainly generated plenty of curiousity: When the company created a “sneak preview” group to let users explore and comment on the changes, more than 113,000 people joined. —Brock Read
