Facebook, the frighteningly popular online social network, may officially have completed its transition from mere Web site to cultural monolith: The company has inked an advertising deal with Microsoft.
Under the terms of the deal, Microsoft will become the exclusive provider of banner advertisements and sponsored links on Facebook, reports Reuters. The agreement is the latest development in the ongoing arms race between Microsoft and Google: Less than a month ago, the search engine struck a similar deal to provide advertising for MySpace. —Brock Read
