Discussion of Blackboard Versus Open-Source Alternatives

Blackboard has become the Microsoft of college software, and depending on your perspective that’s either a compliment or an insult. An article in this week’s Chronicle notes that as Blackboard prepares to release it’s next-generation product that embraces Web 2.0 features, some college leader are considering a switch to one of two open-source alternatives, Moodle or Sakai.
