Police at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor say a student political operative’s online tactics may have crossed the line between dirty politics and outright lawbreaking. The student — a member of a campus political party, Students 4 Michigan — is accused of using a denial-of-service attack to cripple the Web site of a rival party on election day.
The incident has already cost the chairman of Students 4 Michigan his job, and there may be further fallout: Campus police, who are investigating the attack, say its perpetrator could be charged with a felony. (The Ann Arbor News)
