When Duke University decided to replace its much-publicized iPod giveaway with the a broader technology project called the Duke Digital Initiative, administrators invited professors to recommend high-tech tools they’d like to use in the classroom. It seems that faculty members haven’t had too much trouble thinking of gadgets they’d like to play around with: In addition to iPods, professors are now experimenting with tablet PC’s, blogging software, and Global Positioning System tracking units.
