Debating Piracy at Princeton

May 9, 2005, 12:08 pm

A movie-industry official and a prominent intellectual-property lawyer squared off last week at Princeton University during a well-attended debate on file swapping. Dean Garfield, director of legal affairs for the Motion Picture Association of America, urged students to educated themselves about the consequences of online piracy. But Wendy Seltzer, a lawyer with the Electronic Frontier Foundation, accused the entertainment industry of fighting innovation with its antipiracy lawsuit campaign. (The Daily Princetonian)

The university is planning to post a video recording of the debate at a Web site for the event.
