In the latest in a string of data leaks involving college students, the Texas Guaranteed Student Loan Corporation said last week that personal data on 1.3 million borrowers were recently lost. The company said a contractor had lost a piece of equipment containing the information, which included names and Social Security numbers. The leak affected about 10 percent of the company’s clients.
