Add California State University at Chico to the ballooning list of colleges hit by computer hackers. Campus officials report that about 59,000 people—including current and former faculty members and students—may have had their Social Security Numbers exposed during a computer break-in that was discovered three weeks ago. Administrators are trying to contact everyone whose information may have been compromised. They’re also working on a system that would identify employees and students by randomly generated ID numbers, not Social Security data.
