The National Institute for Urban Search and Rescue is taking on the yeoman’s task of consolidating information on victims of Hurricane Katrina who have not yet been accounted for, and putting that data online for family members and emergency-response teams. The institute’s Missing Persons Center is accepting submissions about people who have not been located and collecting data from a number of other sites, including CNN’s Safe List and forums at NOLA.com.
