Canadian Court Nixes Antipiracy Suits

What a difference a border makes: While the United States’ entertainment industry continues to subpoena colleges for the names of illegal-file-sharing suspects, a Canadian court has ruled that Internet-service providers don’t have to identify possible pirates on their networks.

Canada’s peer-to-peer advocates can’t celebrate the decision too emphatically, though. In its decision, the Federal Court of Appeal did outline steps that record companies can take to bring lawsuits in the future. (The Globe and Mail)
