Better Business Through Antipiracy

The six major Hollywood studios have joined forces to pay for a million-dollar technology research lab, and it appears that stopping campus piracy is one of the venture’s chief goals. Among the technologies that researchers at Motion Picture Laboratories, Inc. will work on: network-management tools that could be used to block file transfers on campus computer networks, and software that could identify copyright violations on peer-to-peer networks.
