As Millennials reach 30 and move into faculty positions, colleges should be prepared to meet the needs of these tech-savvy people, advised John O’Brien, vice president of academic affairs at Century College in Minnesota, during a Tuesday afternoon session at the League for Innovation conference in Charlotte, N.C.
Mr. O’Brien said Millennials are used to working and learning together collaboratively and will expect the colleges they teach at to foster this culture. But in faculty job postings, colleges rarely say they want candidates to be comfortable and familiar with working together in groups, said Mr. O’Brien. He said colleges should reconsider how they word job postings.—Andrea L. Foster
