To celebrate AI’s golden anniversary, computer scientists have gathered in Boston this week for a conference on the technology’s past and future. Several of AI’s heaviest hitters will be speaking at the event, according to Wired News—including Sebastian Thrun, leader of the Stanford University squad that won the Defense Department’s 2005 Grand Challenge (The Chronicle, November 18), and several members of the Dartmouth College team that first spoke of the technology 50 years ago. —Brock Read
