Listservs run by students and administrators have become an integral part of campus communication at many institutions—including the University of Pennsylvania, which boasts more than 10,000 of the e-mail groups. But students aren’t always thrilled about getting multiple missives every day from class officers and career counselors.
Officials at Penn have tried to cut down on listserv e-mail messages by authorizing only a handful of people to send messages on the groups, and by making it easy for students to unsubscribe. But at many colleges, spreading information quickly without sending students a flood of e-mail messages remains a tricky balancing act. (The Daily Pennsylvanian)
