Apple continues to take a bite out of PC manufacturers’ college market share, if this fall’s campus sales figures are any indication. Cavalier Computers, the University of Virginia’s technology store, reports that Mac purchases have risen by 57 percent since last year.
Campus officials cite several reasons for Apple’s ascent this year: The company, they say, has attracted college students by bolstering its warranties, lowering its prices, and pre-installing software so that students won’t have to download it themselves. (The Cavalier Daily)
