Students from the Savannah College of Art and Design and California State Polytechnic University at Pomona have taken top honors in a computer-security video contest sponsored by the National Cyber Security Alliance and Educause, the higher-education technology consortium.
For the competition, students across the country were asked to create public-service announcements about computer security that can be screened for incoming students. Nathan Blair, the Savannah College student, directed "Superhighway Safety"—a moody piece that uses editing trickery to represent the dangers of computer viruses. And a trio of students at Pomona masterminded "Bob, You’ve Been Phished," a comical warning that depicts online scammers as shifty, cartoonish thieves.
Both of the prizewinning teams earned $1,000 for their efforts.
