A Song-Swapping Support Group

May 5, 2005, 3:40 pm

The record industry sued 41 college students from Pittsburgh in its latest round of lawsuits against campus song-swapping suspects. Now, many of those students are joining together to decide how to respond to the suits.

Alvin Fong, a student at Carnegie Mellon University, has started a support group of sorts for the newest roster of campus defendants. Members of the group help their classmates find legal aid, study court cases on copyright, and urge industry lawyers to let the students perform community service instead of paying fines.
