The ranks of students who still submit college applications on paper, not online, are dwindling rapidly. But at least for today, applicants to the University of Kansas who took the old-school route are patting themselves on the back.
The university has warned online applicants from the past five years that a computer file including their contact information, Social Security numbers, and credit-card data had been left sitting, unguarded, on the Web. Campus officials have shut down the offending Web site, and they’re only processing manual applications until they get a new, secure site up and running. (The University Daily Kansan)
