Researchers at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign say they have built a prototype of an unprecedentedly secure supercomputer. The machine, called Trusted ILLIAC, links 500 processors and monitors activity on each of them to make sure nothing is amiss.
The supercomputer is also unusually flexible, according to the Chicago Tribune: It can work around buggy software and reconfigure itself to run certain programs efficiently. —Brock Read
