It took them six years and $6-million, but researchers at the University of Wisconsin at Madison are almost finished with the design of the world’s fastest digital camera.

The photographic wonder, called the Regional Calorimeter Trigger, can process a whopping four trillion bits of information in a second. That’s just quick enough to help scientists analyze protons crashing in a collider — a process that lasts about two-billionths of a second. (ZDNet)
