By the time they make it to college, far too many students are already well versed in online plagiarism, according to a new study conducted by researchers at the University of Central Lancashire, in England.
That finding shouldn’t shock campus officials who have dealt with students’ often-shaky grasp of computing ethics. But the study provides a few interesting details on precollegiate cybercheating.
Boys are more likely to steal information from the Internet than are girls, according to the report. And many students start their careers in plagiarism early: The study finds that online cheating is already rampant by the British equivalent of seventh grade. (The Guardian)
