CNET News has an early look at the new home of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Media Lab—a 163,000-square-foot building, designed by Fumihiko Maki, on which construction is set to begin next spring.

The Media Lab, which has developed technology tools like wearable computers and mesh networks, has outgrown its current home, the Wiesner Building: Campus officials have even removed closets to make room for the lab’s growing research teams. The new complex, which will be attached to the Wiesner Building, will include seven labs, each about 5,000 to 8,000 square feet in size. —Brock Read
