A Cardinal Break-In

May 26, 2005, 12:18 pm

The FBI is investigating a computer-security slip-up at Stanford University that exposed personal data, including Social Security numbers, for nearly 10,000 students and former students and about 300 business recruiters. The information was kept on machines at the university’s Career Development Center. Stanford officials would not say whether the network was hacked remotely, breached by someone using a stolen laptop computer, or entered by some other means. (Associated Press)
