Vanderbilt Mascot Bloodies Fan’s Nose

February 23, 2011, 4:32 pm

It’s been a violent year in college sports, and we’re just talking about the mascots.

In September Ohio University’s Rufus the Bobcat tussled with Ohio State’s Brutus the Buckeye. Two months later, the University of Cincinnati’s Bearcat mascot was tackled by police for pummeling the crowd with snowballs.

Now Vanderbilt University’s “Mr. C” — who is named for Commodore Cornelius Vanderbilt, the university’s robber baron founder — bloodies a fan’s nose in a rambunctious fit during Tuesday’s basketball game against the University of Tennessee. The incident is being described as an accident. Maybe so, but we haven’t seen this much blood since Machete.

Please this is clearly an accident, what distrubs me even more is that someone claims to have actually seen Machete.
