Wow, and all this time we were worried about climate change being the demise of human-kind.

Hockey: Not for the faint of heart. I like the ad.

Wow, what does it say about the administration’s feelings about the hockey program that they built the arena so far off-campus that it is not even in the same GALAXY as the academic buildings? (Sorry guys, all the gleeful blowing things up and lighting things on fire and smashing things doesn’t really do anything for me. Must be a boy thing. Or maybe overcompensation for having a big cute bear for a mascot?) :)What university is this? (It doesn’t actually say…)

The NCAA will no doubt object.

From the state that gave us Sarah Palin….

“Apparently deranged polar bear?” Psychopathic comes to mind. What’s interesting is that violent physical contact is discouraged in college hockey. The penalties for such are much more severe than in the pro game. Apparently, a mascot that emphasizes speed and precision just doesn’t cut it next to a cross between Godzilla and Terminator.

The most over the top promo for a college sport (or any sport for that matter). “22228715″, being a guy I can say its not a guy thing at least not as for as I’m concerned. I did not like the promo. It came across like a “Terminator” movie promo. Ugh!

If students at the university created this, I say “bravo.” If it was farmed out to some agency, then not so much.

There are actually four schools under attack in the movie… The ship’s name in the beginning is a reference to rival Alaska-Anchorage. The attack is a little more obvious in a previous version of their opening – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5YjPteCPLoAt least the new one doesn’t appear to look as though the bear is propelled by a bottle rocket up his backside…

I wonder if they paid the appropriate fees for the copyrighted music?

It’s funny because it’s just so ridiculous. Would this really make me want to support the home team? I don’t think so. Their mascot just blew up the planet earth. What I want to know, though, is who manufactured a fighter plane that could hold a giant polar bear taller than the Sears Tower? And who were the other two (presumably giant) pilots flying in formation with him? This is a major international security risk, and we should be partnering with other concerned nations around the globe to neutralize this enemy.

This does set a new standard for sports hyperbole.
