Seventy-three former nursing students at Virginia Western Community College have settled with the state after filing a lawsuit that said the state-run college had never told them its nursing program had lost its national accreditation, The Roanoke Times reports. The plaintiffs, who were in the nursing program between 2005 and 2007, argued that the state, through the college, had defrauded them and breached a contract for their education. Last year a jury ruled for some of the plaintiffs. The group, which had originally sought some $21-million, will receive $2.4-million under the settlement.
