The U.S. Department of Energy has announced the recipients of 150 grants in a new fellowship program for graduate students in biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, environmental science, mathematics, and physics. The fellows will receive $50,500 a year over a three-year period to use for tuition, living expenses, research materials, and conference travel. The goal of the program, authorized under economic-stimulus legislation enacted last year, is to strengthen the country’s scientific and engineering work force.
