U.S. Eases Visa Policy for Iranian Students

May 20, 2011, 4:24 pm

The State Department announced Friday that it was changing its visa rules for Iranian students, making it easier for them to travel in and out of the United States. Iranians have been allowed only single-entry visas, meaning that if they left the United States, they had to apply for a new visa if they wished to return. “This change will allow Iranian students and exchange visitors to travel more easily, furthering our goal of promoting the free flow of information and ideas,” the State Department said on its Web site.  Students in “nonsensitive, nontechnical fields of study and research” will be eligible to receive two-year, multiple-entry visas. The National Iranian American Council, which had lobbied for the change, applauded the news. There are about 4,700 Iranian students in the U.S., according to the most recent figures from the Institute of International Education.

Why are we doing this while the two hikers are still in an Iranian prison, unless this is the prelude to their return home?

The State Department declared Iran a terrorist state yet NIAC with its multi-million dollar lobbying budget was able to persuade the government to allow Iranian students to enter and exist the U.S. as they please.  It is interesting how lobbyists seem to get what they want regardless of the consequences.

Miss Nasim, newly accepted student to Virgina Tech, tells the Tehran Bureau that she would miss her parents too much if she had to study for five years without going home.  And, God forbid “they die” before a student graduates.  Virginia Tech’s reputation regarding harm caused by foreign students is notorious.  Perhaps caution is advisable.

Miss Nasim’s picture posing in front of an insulting and degenerating poster of President Obama is, in my opinion, grounds to deny her admission to the United States.  What kind of a person is disrespectful the President of the United States especially when they are asking for favors from everyone concerned.
