U. of Utah Chief Is Pick to Be Next President of U. of Washington

Michael K. Young, president of the University of Utah, will be offered the position as the next president of the University of Washington, the university’s Board of Regents announced today. The regents’ decision authorizes the board’s chair to negotiate an employment agreement with Mr. Young, who served as dean of George Washington University’s law school before becoming Utah’s president, in 2004. At the University of Washington he would succeed Mark A. Emmert, who left last year to become president of the NCAA.
