The University of Louisiana system’s Board of Supervisors is considering a revised version of changes in its tenure policy that board members postponed voting on in August. The changes would tie the length of notice to be given to terminated tenured faculty members to state budget cuts, saying that notice would be extended if the system experienced less than a 15-percent loss in state appropriations in the coming fiscal year. However, the governor’s office anticipates a 35-percent cut in higher-education appropriations in the 2011-12 budget, The Hammond Daily Star reported. The board may vote on the proposed changes at its January 7 meeting.
