U. of Hawaii Imposes 6.7% Cut in Faculty Pay

Faculty members in the University of Hawaii system have received paychecks that reflect a 6.7-percent pay cut imposed by the administration in an attempt to close a budget shortfall. The faculty union asked a judge for a temporary injunction last week to block the salary reduction and, in a statement today, expressed surprise that a state court had not yet responded to its request.
