U. of Charleston Will Take Over Mountain State U. Campuses

The University of Charleston announced on Wednesday that it would take over the West Virginia campuses of troubled Mountain State University, which recently had its accreditation withdrawn. A “teach out” agreement will let Mountain State students who are eligible to graduate by the end of the year complete their degrees. Charleston will use Mountain State’s campus in Beckley, W.Va., for its programs when Mountain State’s accreditation, which was recently extended to the end of the year, expires. It will also evaluate programs at Mountain State’s other campuses, in Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania, during the fall semester.
