U. of California at Davis to Pay $1.35-Million to Settle Title IX Claim

February 16, 2012, 2:04 pm

The University of California at Davis has agreed to pay $1.35-million to settle a long-running gender-discrimination dispute involving three former female wrestlers. A federal-court ruling in the case last August found that the university had violated Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 by failing to sufficiently expand athletic opportunities for female students between 1998 and 2005, when the three women were enrolled. The damages phase of the case was set to begin in early March, but the university’s payment resolves all remaining issues, including any possible appeals, according to statements by the university and the plaintiffs.

Another victim and more costs for the university’s so-called athletic program. Maybe, it is time for intramurals and exercise for all students?

Time to go the BYU-Idaho route… drop the athletics and turn the athletic facilities over to the intramural programs and university wide health and fitness programs.

I have to question Title IX. The more females that are in college then the more mens teams must be dropped. I agree with this blog post

The whole system seems to be getting anti male. Maybe that was the intent of Title IX.
