Tens of thousands of university students have taken to the streets in cities across Germany today to protest recent changes in the country’s higher-education system, including the imposition of tuition in some states and curricular reforms designed to bring degrees into compliance with the 47-nation Bologna Process. “Students from over 20 German universities have been occupying lecture theatres around the clock in protest for days now,” Deutsche Welle reported, and similar protests are planned in France and Austria.
