Connecticut Lawmakers Approve $1.5-Billion for UConn Expansion

The Connecticut General Assembly on Wednesday gave final approval to a $1.5-billion plan to expand the University of Connecticut, sending the bill to the desk of Gov. Dannel P. Malloy, a Democrat, who pushed for the legislation and is expected to sign it.

AAUP Writes to UConn’s President in Support of Student Who Faced Threats

The American Association of University Professors on Tuesday sent a letter to the president of the University of Connecticut, Susan Herbst, calling attention to suggested policies on preventing sexual violence on campuses that it says may be relevant to recent events at Connecticut. The letter, from the AAUP’s Committee on Women in the Academic Profession, comes after a UConn student reportedly was threatened for questioning the university’s commitment to preventing violence against women.
