A report by the American Anthropological Association examines the career paths and educational experiences of people with master’s degrees in anthropology, a group whose numbers have risen consistently in the last 50 years or so. Among the findings in the report, “The Changing Face of Anthropology”: Sixty-four percent of those with degrees in anthropology found a job within a year of receiving their degree. About 20 percent work for academic institutions, though not usually as faculty members, and about 34 percent found jobs through “networking with a colleague or friend.”
