Students in the University of Puerto Rico system reached an agreement late last night with the university administration, ending a strike that began nearly two months ago, said Manuel Gómez, director of the university’s Resource Center for Science and Engineering. The protest shut down 10 of the system’s 11 campuses, halting classes and research and postponing graduation. Students are celebrating the agreement as a victory, according to two Puerto Rican newspapers, Claridad and Primera Hora. For the agreement to take effect, the student body must vote on ratification in the next few days, Mr. Gómez said.
