A student at California State University at Sacramento died on Wednesday after being attacked with a baseball bat in his dormitory room, and the suite mate accused of homicide in the attack remained in the hospital today, recovering from gunshot wounds inflicted by campus police officers who responded to the incident, according to a university statement and reports in the San Jose Mercury News and The Sacramento Bee. No motive has been established in the attack. University officials expressed sympathy to the victim’s family today and credited the officers with containing the incident quickly to prevent further danger to the campus.
