Juggling many hats has required a system to tame the thought intruders.  I have a small spiral notebook always beside me or in my purse.  Before recording the first thought of the day, I date the page.  The thoughts and ideas are recorded briefly as they occur and set aside for later prioritizing and processing – or delegating.  Sticky notes are attached for confidential information that can be removed and shredded.  Colored markers highlight important information or to do notes and sticky bookmarkers not an important page.  It has worked well.  I get new 5 x 7 notebooks from VistaPrint.com when they are free or postage only.  I have them date the cover for the year or season.  They file well for future references by book dates.
