Student-Aid Group Gets Proactive on Improving Award Letters

The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators e-mailed a letter to its members on Monday, telling them that it had created a task force to examine how financial-aid award letters could be improved and elements in them might be standardized. Consumer advocates have long complained that the letters are hard to compare, and recently the federal government has been paying attention. The association’s letter encourages aid administrators to review and update their colleges’ letters and weigh in on the issue, to help students and “possibly forestall additional legislative or regulatory mandates.”
