Nariman Farvardin, the University of Maryland at College Park’s provost since 2007, is the next president of the Stevens Institute of Technology, the institute announced today. His hiring comes one year after Stevens resolved a legal dispute with New Jersey’s attorney general, who had sued over the institute’s shaky finances and million-dollar presidential compensation. Harold J. Raveché, who was Stevens’s longtime, controversial president, departed in the lawsuit’s wake. Mr. Farvardin, among his other roles at College Park, led the strategic-planning process.
