Connecticut State University system officials could be investigated by the state’s attorney general for their handling of the resignation of Southern Connecticut State University’s president, Cheryl J. Norton, The Hartford Courant reported. State legislators have asked the attorney general for an opinion about whether the system’s chancellor, David G. Carter, and the Board of Trustees violated state law by changing personnel policies to enable the president to be removed without a full board vote. Reasons for the dismissal were unclear at first, and Mr. Carter and the board have been criticized by the university’s faculty. The attorney general said a response would be issued within a month and a half.
