Some Scientists, Citing Political Interference, Say They Await Change From Obama

Scientists may be the latest group to worry that President Obama’s promises of change aren’t turning out to be all they had expected. The Los Angeles Times is citing what it describes as a series of instances in which government officials have interfered with science-based assessments on controversial topics, including water quality, overgrazing, and treatment of the Gulf oil spill. The article quotes one group as saying that the number of such complaints under the Obama administration is similar to the rate seen under the George W. Bush administration.
