Harry Reid, the Senate majority leader, said on Tuesday that he would try to pass legislation, known as the Dream Act, that would create a pathway to citizenship for thousands of undocumented immigrants who attend college and make them eligible for some forms of federal aid. Senator Reid said he planned to offer the immigration measure as an amendment next week to a bill authorizing Defense Department programs, according to news reports.

Good luck, Senator, especially in an election year. The Right has demonized undocumented immigrants (who, current statute aside, generally came to this country the same way everybody’s great-grandfather did), and I’m sure once word gets out even about this brief article, the comment section will be filled with teabag trolls out looking for a blog space to spew hatred and make intelligent comments that add so much to the issue such as “what part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?”
