Scientific and Technical Workers at NYU-Poly Move to Unionize

A majority of teaching, research, and graduate assistants at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University have petitioned the National Labor Relations Board to let them form a union, according to the United Auto Workers, which is organizing them. A statement issued by the UAW said the proposed collective-bargaining unit would be focused heavily on issues related to laboratory safety, while also seeking to raise wages and improve job security.

    The blurb implies that grad students are the ones trying to unionize, but the headline suggests it is actually regular employees. Maybe the union would include both groups. The article should clarify this point.
