A shooting at Northern Virginia Community College’s Woodbridge campus last December revealed security flaws that need attention, according to a report issued this spring by the college’s Commission on Safety and Security. Thirty-six of 45 campus security cameras were not working when a freshman mathematics student, Jason M. Hamilton, allegedly walked into a classroom, fired two shots at his instructor, and missed, The Washington Post reported today. In addition, first responders on the campus lacked floor plans of buildings and master keys to doors at the time of the incident, according to the Post. Mr. Hamilton faces a trial in August.
