Congressional Republicans have fired another salvo in the battle over whether colleges should switch now to the Education Department’s direct-lending program. In an open letter sent today, two senators and two members of the House of Representatives tell college leaders that contrary to suggestions from the Obama administration and other Democrats, they can safely wait to see whether Congress votes to end the bank-based system of student lending.
