A former state Supreme Court justice who led an investigation into alleged sexual assaults involving University of Montana students says in her final report to the university that the inquiry unearthed so many cases that it should continue, The Missoulian reported. The former justice, Diane Barz, said the continuing inquiry should be done without an “outside investigator,” and its results should be reviewed in six months to a year. Justice Barz began her investigation in mid-December, after two incidents had been identified. The number has now grown to nine. Her final report recommends a number of steps the university could take to improve its responses to complaints and to ensure its compliance with federal guidance.
