President of Florida Keys Community College Agrees to Step Down Early

September 21, 2009, 11:45 pm

Jill Landesberg-Boyle, president of Florida Keys Community College, has agreed to take a leave until her three-year contract expires next June 15, The Miami Herald reported. During her two years in the job, Ms. Landesberg-Boyle won praise for bringing more students and funds to the college, but also drew accusations of creating a hostile work environment. She had faced the possibility of being fired at a special meeting of the college’s governing board on Monday night.

Another stupid Board of Trustees, bowing to pressure from a union organization and/or influential faculty who want no part of a new president changing the old status quo, disturbing the comfortable culture or shuffling the deck of “jokers” long entrenched in cushy “do little” poitions at the college. I’m beginning to lose count. I think this is the 5th one in the last three weeks the Chronicle has reported. When “O” When will these intellectually overwhelmed trustees learn that they are being manipulated.

willynilly, thank you for posting a totally uninformed opinion. FKCC is not unionized and the faculty was the moving force behind this change. You should actually get informed before making judgements, don’t you think? Its easy to make sweeping statements and generalizations, its harder to actually take the time to learn the facts.

Oh my goodness, it IS hard to learn the facts. The faculty issued a vote of confidence in President Landesberg-Boyle. Local politicos “stacked the deck” in Board appointees. Not, perhaps, FKCC’s finest hour.
